4x1 explodes out the gate!

On a chilly overcast night on April 5th, we run 42.64 (IL #2) to place second to my father's team and my former school, Plainfield North 42.59 (IL #1). We are .13 under the state qualifying standard (42.77) and only .55 off the school record from 2019. This is the second fastest early April time from any relay team I have coached (42.09, 41.29 [state champs], 41.67, 41.72, 42.07, 42.22). What a start!

There were 93 (!!) shot putters and 84 discus throwers at this meet. Insane. Coupled with the chilly weather, Jon didn't blink. He placed 2nd in the Discus with a throw of 150-6 PR. The state qualifying standard is 153-3. He also placed 2nd in the Shot Put with a throw of 48-01.

1:31.95 isn't as good as we hoped, but is nothing to be upset about in early April! Jaden Michel had to FIGHT to hold off Nic Clark from Plainfield North. We hope to better this time at Belleville West on Saturday.
