Jon beats over 50 throwers in both Shot and Disc to place 2nd. Additionally, Jon's discus throw of 162-2 ranks 4th in the state and is 9ft over the state qualifying mark! Jon and Coach Garbrecht still have MANY things to improve on (per their words). How far will he throw at the end of May?? Our school record of 168-11 by Dan Gerk (1992) is in some serious jeopardy!

Our time of 43.24 was not better than our 42.64 from Tuesday at Plainfield North, but we ran great compared to some of the best teams in the state (we beat Plainfield North (IL #1)). The winds made it tough for the lap races. And we still have room for improvement with our handoffs! What a fantastic first week for this quartet.

Our time of 1:30.69 is a season PR. We beat some seriously fast teams, such as East St. Louis, Homewood-Flossmoor, Plainfield North, Edwardsville, and many others. Our handoffs were shakey at best. We will look to implement blind exchanges as we get more practice time. The sky is the limit for the group. Could the school record of 1:28.05 (2003 State Champs!) come down this year???

Joey is a first-year Junior. He's a varsity football and basketball athlete. 3-weeks into track and field, he has put up some seriously impressive numbers:

HJ: 5-10

LJ: 20-1

4x4 split: 55.0

Joey has endless potential. He will be a critical piece to this team for this year and next! 

Will Morrey is our #1 Freshman Distance runner. He continues to kill workouts in practice and the results are showing! Will's 3200m progression this season:

2/26: 11:55.95

3/8: 11:46.24

4/9: 11:19.28

It's a 4-hour drive from Tinley Park to Belleville. We took 36 guys on a school bus, leaving at 2pm Friday and getting back home at 10pm Saturday night. The goal of this trip was to learn how to travel, stay overnight, and compete at a high level against elite competition. We achieved our goal. We will do this again in two weeks when we travel to the Edwardsville Winston Brown Invite. We will do it for a final time in Charleston, IL in late May.
