After breaking the Triple Jump school record @ LWC (45-9), Dillon comes back 24 hours later and jumps 46-3! Dillon now ranks IL#3 in the TJ & LJ. Only the beginning!
HUGE PR's for our distance captains. Snedden (4:50.63) previous PR of 5:15.25, Morrey (4:51.78) previous PR of 5:27.25!! This is after running PR's in the 800 and 4x4 the day before!
Handoffs were shaky at best. The second exchange was nearly a standstill. However, with only two practices under our belts, our goal was to get the baton around the track. Mission accomplished. This team is more than capable of running the State Qualifying Mark of 42.77.
Barberi (So) 11.3
Gilleylen (Jr) 10.6
Ketza (Jr) 11.8
Michel (Fr) 10.7
4x2 with three sophomores and a freshman place 3rd in the varsity invite running 1:35.94 (IL#23). This is with two nearly disastrous handoffs. The sky is the limit for this group!
Zeman 24.1*
N. Smith 24.1
Barberi 23.7
Michel 24.0
Newcomer Junior Charlie Zufan (2nd, 55.90) continues to impress! Three year Bolts Track vet Anthony Vassolo (56.71) is one of the hardest working guys on our team. This is after ZERO lactate workouts. How fast will they run in June??
Coach Garbrecht and nearly all of this throwers have had two practices so far. If you know anything about Shot Put and Discus, they're highly technical events. They're learning on the fly and improving everyday. We're excited about the development of our throwers moving forward and can't wait to practice!
How great is it to be back!? I cannot be happier with how our guys COMPETED all week. We had a high intensity, competitive practice on Tuesday, meets on Thursday & Friday. No one backed down. Over 50% of the athletes on our team had NEVER attended a track meet before this week! We have loads of talent and lots of room for improvement. I can't wait to have a full week of practice this week. Keep chopping wood!
Meets next week:
Wednesday: Home vs. Stagg FAT (Senior Night)
Saturday: Invite at Lake Park FAT (FS/Varsity)
