Niles North High School, one of two high schools in Niles Township High School District 219, is located in Skokie, IL, just off of I-94. District 219 prides itself on its robust fine arts programs, and received the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network and National School Boards Association Award for its outstanding support of arts education.
Vocal Jazz has been an integral part of the Niles North Fine Arts Department since the early 1990s, when Daniel Gregerman founded the flagship ensemble, Take One. Since then, the program has grown to include three vocal ensembles (Take One, Sound Check, and Harmonic Motion) as well as two rhythm sections, and a sound crew. The groups have performed at numerous festivals and conferences nationally and internationally, and have won multiple DownBeat Student Awards.
