Nick Torresso
Varsity Defensive Coordinator
Coach Torresso will be the Defensive coordinator and Defensive line coach for the 2nd year at Niles North. In his first season the Niles North defense made tremendous strides and held 3 opponents to under 14 points including 8 turnovers and 2 punt returns for touchdowns. Prior to his time at Niles North Coach Torresso served as the Defensive Line and strength coach at Schaumburg High School where they made a run to the state quarter finals in 2013.
As a player, Torresso graduated from Schaumburg high school and then played four years at Bowling Green State University on the Offensive and Defensive line. Following his college career he attended mini camp with the Chicago Bears and played four seasons with the AFL.
Coach Torresso serves as a Special Education teacher at Niles North and is a member of the Equity team.

Coaching History
Coach Olson is entering his second season with the football program at Niles North High School. He has previous football experience coaching at both Niles West and Maine South High School. While at Niles West as a Varsity assistant the team qualified for the IHSA State Play-offs. At Maine South Coach Olson worked with the receivers and defensive backs on an undefeated sophomore team.
Coach Olson also serves as the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. In his eleven years at North, the Vikings have won three Conference Championships, five IHSA Class 4A Regional Championships, advanced to three Sectional Championships (Sweet 16), and captured one Sectional Championship (Elite 8).
Coach Olson’s teams have set school records for wins (24 in 2011, 27 in 2013 and 2020). Prior to his arrival the basketball program had only two 20-win seasons. Olson’s teams have won 20 games for 6 consecutive seasons and 9 out of the last 10 seasons.Coach Olson has developed 1 NBA player (Abdel Nader, Class of 2011, Oklahoma City Thunder), at least 7 Division 1 players, and seen close to 30 of his former players go on to play college basketball.
Prior to coming to Niles North, Coach Olson was the head coach at Maine East High School. In his two seasons at East he compiled a 37-20 overall record including the school’s first Regional Championship in 36 years.
Olson has an overall record of 271-123 in thirteen seasons as a head coach (234-103 at North). His teams have been especially successful in IHSA post-season play, where he has compiled a 21-12 record. Olson has been honored by the IBCA as District 4 Coach of the Year on five occasions (2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2017-2018, 2019-2020).
Prior to coaching, he was an All Conference/All Area basketball and baseball player at Rolling Meadows High School. He was named the school’s Male Athlete of the Year in 1994.

Has coached multiple high school sports for the past twelve years. Those have been primarily football and track and field. During his twelve years of High School Coaching experience he’s had the privilege of being a part of some outstanding programs. During this time he’s experienced much success both on and off the field with his student athletes. He's coached at every level in a high school football program.
