Appropriate decorations to put on graduation caps include but are not limited to:
1. Thanking a parent, family member, teacher, friend
2. Promoting a career a student may consider entering
3. The university a student will be attending
4. Graduation year
5. Branch of the military a student will be joining
6. Home country’s flag
7. Favorite quote
Students will not be allowed to walk during graduation if their cap:
1. Contains obscene, profane, or vulgar language
2. Promotes or advocates illicit drug or alcohol usage
3. Contains sharp objects or other harmful materials
4. Is decorated anywhere besides the top
5. Is more than half an inch in height
6. Threatens the safety and welfare of any person
7. Denotes affiliation with gangs, violence, illegal activity, or disruptive behavior which is detrimental to the safety and welfare of other students
8. Makes noise or uses lights of any sort
All graduation caps will be reviewed and approved in advance of the ceremony by a Dean.
The administration reserves the right, at any time prior to Commencement, to revoke a student's cap design.
