Welcome to the website for American Literature and Composition.
This year we will consider the question: What is America?
This class will also require you to think about yourself and your life, past and future, in terms of your place in American history, ethics, politics, morality, and rhetoric.
As your instructor for this course, I will be here to guide you in answering this question. I will be providing you with information and rhetorical strategies that will help you to answer this question, but please be aware that I will not be providing you with the answers. That is your job.
Along the way, you may also be learning to
become a more confident writer, student, and citizen
complete multiple post-secondary-level writing assignments
understand how to evaluate and assess your own reading and writing
approach your education and work in an ethical, thoughtful, mature manner
