Congratulations Wheeling High School's Class of 2026!
Do you want to give a speech at graduation? If so, this is the opportunity for you!
If you are interested, you will prepare a speech that you will give in person at auditions. Then a team of judges will review each speech, and the graduation speaker(s) will be selected.
Please keep in mind the following recommendations when writing your speech:
Keep your speech between 2 and 3 minutes.
Avoid clichés (such as our journey, traveling, Dr. Seuss, etc.).
You can use an extended metaphor if desired.
Keep it positive and light!
Remember to speak to the entire student body (for example, not just honors and AP students).
Graduation speaker auditions will take place on Wednesday, April 15th at 3:10 in room 141. Be prepared to share a digital copy with Dr. Baker.
If you are selected, you will be asked to meet with WHS staff to finalize your speech.
If you have any questions, contact Dr. Baker at megan.baker@d214.org.
Good luck!
