Penny Wars 2021
Fremd's Tri-M Music Honor Society is hosting a penny war to benefit Doctors Without Borders, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to provide public health services to global communities in need.
Time frame
The penny war begins on Monday, April 19, 2021 and ends on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the end of the school day.
How to play
The three performing groups at Fremd—band, choir, and orchestra—will compete against each other in the penny war. Band will be one team, and choir/orchestra will be the other. You can help your own team or hurt another team by donating money to help Doctors Without Borders!
In-person option: Bring in coins and loose change to school. Place pennies into the bucket for the team that you want to win. Place silver-colored coins into the bucket for the team that you do not want to win.
Remote option: Donate to Doctors Without Borders online. You will receive an email receipt from Doctors Without Borders. Forward the receipt to Tri-M President Gabe Classon (classon5703@students.d211.org). In your email, include which coin(s) you would like added to which bucket(s). For example, if I donated $5.00 online, I might write "100 pennies to band, 80 nickels to choir/orchestra."
Each penny counts as +1 point; every other piece of currency counts as -5 points. The team with the most points at the end of the Penny War is the winner.
