What better way to get a head start at a college or University education than earning credit for them while you are still in high school. Especially now that the state of Illinois has passed a law requiring state colleges and universities to accept AP credit of a 3 or higher. By taking an AP Art Course you are filling an elective requirement for Fremd High School and earning an elective/art credit for your future at a college or University.
This class is for high-achieving Juniors in their third year of the 2D: Painting, Drawing & Printmaking sequence.
This class is for Seniors in their fourth year of the 2D: Painting, Drawing & Printmaking sequence or third year of the Photography sequence.
This class is for Seniors in their fourth year of the 3D Design sequence.
These Independent Studio courses give advanced art students the opportunity to develop an Advanced Placement Art Portfolio. The focus of these courses is on the three sections graded by the College Boards: Quality, Concentration, and Breadth. Students will create 24 art works which excel in concept, composition, and execution. These works should demonstrate artistic growth and development. Students also submit an artist statement in which they describe ideas investigated and explain how the ideas evolved as they created their body of work.
Learn to critically analyze works of art within diverse historical and cultural contexts, considering issues such as politics, religion, patronage, gender, and ethnicity. Explore major forms of artistic expression including architecture, sculpture, painting and other media from across a variety of cultures. Learn about the purpose and function of art as you develop your ability to articulate visual and art historical concepts in verbal and written form.
