The CLS Color Guard is coached and overseen by Val Kundman, a community member and director of the Convergence Winter Guard Organization. This organization works closely and overlaps a great deal with with the CLS band program, especially with logistics.

There are some standard items that are part of our color guard that are required for our marching program to function. The prices and general descriptions are found on on the order form below These items are purchased through the band department to help reduce the cost and given to the student by the band director.

*****Color Guard Students who are also band students only need to register once on the band site.
General Fee - $150 per student need to fund activities for the year. Due to fundraising efforts from the 2024-25 school year we are able to reduce this by $60 and we will only be asking for $90 to cover the remainder from the students.

Band Hat ($20) - **Optional** Baseball style hat for relaxed uniform.
Free & Reduced - If you fall under free and reduced lunch or need help covering these costs, please connect with the Front office regarding the fees and ordering. Guard members will also need to purchase a pair of Black Jazz pants.
Below you will find a Parent information questionnaire, along with a change to pre-order a CLS Guard parent shirt or Band Hat that you can wear to show your support for your young musician. ***Please be careful to order the correct shirt (Guard parent vs Band parent)
There are multiple ways to get involved. Listed below are a few of the ways we need parents to be involved throughout the year. There are also parents selected to help run each of these groups. If you have interest in organizing one of these activities please email Mr. Foster
Uniform Team - Sizing/Fitting during band camp and passing out uniforms as needed.
Uniform Fitting: Assist with fitting the students in their proper jacket, pants, hats. Assist with distribution of shirts, shoes, etc.
Uniform Sewing: Help create a perfect fit for a student's uniform by hemming pants or performing light uniform repairs (buttons, zippers, etc.).
Uniform Crew: Help with passing out and collecting uniforms at football games.
Hospitality Team - Keeping our program watered and fed, or any other hospitality related elements.
Hospitality Crew: Assist with set-up, tear-down, and serving of food at various events.
Event Water: At football games or other events, fill up or pass out water for the students.
Concession Worker: Assist in the concession stand for football or basketball.
Equipment Team - Helping out with equipment logistics
Game Equipment: Help to move equipment from the band room to the stadium (and back); assist with podiums and/or pit equipment for pre-game & halftime shows.
Equipment Truck Driver: Rent & Drive the equipment truck to various marching or concert performances. Expenses are reimbursed.
Trip Equipment: Assist with loading/unloading the truck and moving equipment as we travel to marching or concert festivals.
AV Team - Helping out with some of our AV needs for the seson
Videographer: Looking for someone to video our marching program in their performances (parade, festival, & Friday nights)
Voice of the Band: Do you have an announcer's voice? We need someone who is willing to read our announcement script at the football games and Festival.
Other -
Fundraiser Helpers: Tally orders & count money, assist with delivery and distribution day. (asked as needed)
Trip Chaperones: Ride the bus with the students, take attendance, general supervisory duties. (asked as needed)
Booster Representative: Help support the band by being our representative with the CLS Boosters, attending meetings, and helping connect our two organizations

*Note, per Illinois school guidelines, all parent volunteers have to pass a basic criminal background check before being allowed to volunteer. This only involves running your name and birthdate through the system used by District 155. Mr. Foster will be in contact with you for that information.
