CG Girls Tennis is a fall sport, spanning beginning of August through end of October. We have 2 levels--Varsity and JV--and are a no-cut program. Both Varsity & JV levels each have starting lineups that consist of 3 singles and 4 doubles positions equaling 11 starting players per level. Remaining players that are not in the starting spots will play as well, in exhibition matches that count toward their personal record, but not the team score. Varsity will play approximately 20 match dates consisting of 2-3 dual matches during the week and team invitationals on Saturdays, with post-season weekend tournaments taking place the last 2-3 weeks of the season. JV has approximately 18 match dates, including 3-4 Saturdays, with a 2-day post-season tournament. Week-day matches start at approximately 4pm and will go until they end--about 6:30pm. (Tennis is not a timed sport so we will be done when the team has completed all matches.) All starters on both Varsity & JV are required to attend scheduled match dates unless otherwise notified by the coach.
We practice EVERY day after school (including most Saturdays before competition dates begin). Most of our practices will go 3-5:30PM and players are expected to attend all scheduled practices.
We will hold off-season strength training, agilities & conditioning 2 days a week during the months of January and February in combination with the boys team. We expect the girls to take part in as many of these sessions that they can if they are not in a winter sport.
Lastly, we strongly encourage all of our players to participate in our Trojan Summer Tennis camps. We offer a 2-week camp that also includes extra drop-in hitting sessions throughout the summer as well as match play against other local HS tennis camps. It's a great experience to get a ton of tennis in and further develop their game. Info on our camps can be found under the TENNIS CAMPS tab at the top of the page.
