Private Voice Lessons
Cary-Grove is pleased to offer school-day lessons with the following voice instructors. These voice teachers also offer after-school and weekend lessons according to their own personal schedules. Please email one of the choir directors for their contact information.
MICHELLE HACKMAN has been teaching voice in the Chicagoland area since 2001. Besides nurturing her private vocal studio, over the years she has taught for many different music schools including: The McHenry County Music Center, Northwest Community Music Academy (Encore), Cary-Grove Performing Arts Center, The Schaumburg Music Academy, ArtReach, and for the Elk-Grove Village Park District. Currently Ms. Hackman primarily teaches at Cary-Grove High School, Crystal Lake Central High School, and Prairie Ridge High School.
Graduates of her studio have gone on to study and to major in musical theatre, vocal performance, music education, music business, composition, and vocal jazz performance at many of the top-ranked colleges for those majors. Many of her students are also award-winning singers receiving acknowledgement from The Schmidt Competition, Classical Singer Vocal Competition, Woodstock Fine Arts Scholarship Winners, as well as many college talent scholarships. She has also had students audition for and participate in some of the most prestigious summer programs in the world including: The HighSchool Music Theater and Classical Vocalist Programs at Interlochen, Oberlin Vocal Performance Program, and Tanglewood Young Artist's Program through Boston University.
Ms. Hackman is also an award-winning performer herself and enjoys performing opera, concert works, and musical theatre. She has studied with (and continues to study with) some of top-ranked master teachers and coaches in the field of opera and musical theatre. This past summer she performed one of her favorite roles, The Witch, in the opera "Hansel and Gretel" with Main Street Opera. She holds a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in vocal performance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
SUE KEDZIOR has been teaching voice in the Cary-Grove area since 1989. She received her bachelor’s degrees in vocal performance from Illinois Wesleyan University, where she performed in a number of musicals and operas. She was also named as an Honor Recitalist and Outstanding Senior. She earned her master's degree, also in voice, at Florida State University, where she worked with composer/arranger Andre Thomas as well as performing with FSU Opera Theatre. Additional training includes the Boris Goldovsky Opera Institute and work with John Reed, O.B.E., in summer repertory at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Sue has performed as guest soloist for a number of oratorios with Voices in Harmony, including Sing-Along Messiah and Haydn's Creation. She has been involved in many productions at the Woodstock Opera House, and also served as vocal director for several shows with Woodstock Musical Theatre Company. A favorite role was Abigail Adams in Shady Lane Theatre’s production of 1776.
Sue has also been a voice teacher at the Cary-Grove Performing Arts Centre since its inception. She is a member of Chicagoland Voices, and is very active in the music ministry at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. Sue resides in Cary with her husband, Wally, and their children, Sarah, Mitch and Sam.
