National Honor Society
Students inducted into the GCHS chapter of the National Honor Society make a commitment to helping with a number of community service events their senior year. Club sponsors will offer students a number of opportunities throughout the course of the school year, and students are able to choose which projects they'd like to be a part of.
To be eligible as a candidate for the National Honor Society, a student must:
Be a junior who has attended GCHS the equivalent of one semester
Have a minimum cumulative scholastic average of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale
Be active in the school’s extracurricular community by participating in two sports/clubs their junior year
Have some history of community service (examples of appropriate community service include working for a clean-up campaign, public library, hospital, homeless shelter, literacy program, or the Special Olympics; volunteering in a house of worship; participating actively in Scouting; or taking part in a fundraising event like an AIDS or cancer walk)
Be highly regarded by the faculty
Be free of major disciplinary action at GCHS
Receive a majority vote for admission by the National Honor Society Faculty Council
