Can students bring snacks?

Students are encouraged to eat healthy snacks between the end of school and the beginning of practices and meets. Students may bring their own snack from home or purchase one from the school library.

How late will students be at school?

Practices are after school Monday through Thursday from 3:15 to 4:40 p.m. so students may take the activity bus home. Competitions may require parents to provide transportation in the event the activity is completed after 4:45 p.m. Students are not allowed to loiter in the building and must be under adult supervision after the final bus route is dismissed.

What if a student is in school but can't attend practice?

The students should let the coach know anytime they will miss a practice or meet. Please inform the coaches directly and do not send a message through another student. Competition line-ups are determined by student performance during practices and meets. Students who are not at practice may have reduced playing time.

What do I do if my child is ill and can’t attend school?

Call the school at 847-526-2122 and report the absence to attendance. You can leave a message on the answering machine if you are calling before 7:00 a.m. Speak clearly; identify yourself and provide the name and grade of the child who will be out. Students who do not attend school may not attend extracurricular activities.

What if a student becomes ill at a practice or competition?

A child is always allowed to call home if they are ill and need to be picked up from school. Parents should not be contacted by their child through cell phone or text, unless given permission from a staff member or nurse.

How will I know if the school is closed or dismissed early due to severe weather or other emergencies?

You have already filled out an Emergency Dismissal Form when you registered your child or started the school year. In the event of an emergency closing, our districts automated phone and email message system will be employed. Please make sure to contact the office with any changes to your phone or email

What affects eligibility?

Students must maintain passing grades in order to continue in interscholastic activities. If a particular student is having a difficult time academically, they need to devote more time to their academic areas. Each season, the staff will receive a list of students participating in an interscholastic activity for the purposes of monitoring academic progress. Grades will be monitored on a weekly basis using the following guidelines:

  1. The first time a student is failing any classes, they will be ineligible to participate in competition for the following week

  2. If a student is found to be failing for a second time during the season, they will be ineligible for both competition and practices for the following week.

  3. If a student is found to be failing a third time during the season, they may be removed from the team for the remainder of the season.

Weeks of academic failure do not have to be consecutive. Every attempt to involve the parent or guardian will be made. Administration reserves the right to deal with individual cases with the best interests of all parties in mind.
