AAPPL
1) About the AAPPL Assessment
Which students take the AAPPL?
8th Grade students who are enrolled in Spanish at Daniel Wright take the AAPPL Assessment.
What is the AAPPL?
The AAPPL is a proficiency and performance assessment of standards-based language learning across the three modes of communication (Interpersonal, Presentational, and Interpretive) that addresses the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages and uses today's communication media in which test takers perform tasks such as participating in creating wikis, e-mailing, and using apps to demonstrate language ability. 8th grade students will be assessed on the following modes of communication: Presentational Writing and Interpretive Reading and Listening.
What is the format of the AAPPL?
The AAPPL is delivered over the internet, under proctored conditions, and requires that each candidate have headphones with a microphone(the microphone and speakers built in to the student's iPad/device are acceptable in a remote setting).
What kind of score does the AAPPL provide?
A single AAPPL Score, according to the ACTFL Performance Scale, is issued for each component of the test (Presentational Writing, Interpretive Reading, and Interpretive Listening). Test takers receive a written AAPPL Score Report consisting of an AAPPL Score for each component, a brief narrative explaining each score, and recommendations for improvement. Official scoring is conducted by ACTFL Certified AAPPL raters.
Who administers the AAPPL?
During the 2020-2021 school year, due to COVID restrictions, the assessment will be proctored remotely via Zoom.
How will my student take the AAPPL?
All 8th grade students will take the AAPPL Assessment remotely.
Instructions for accessing and taking the assessment will be provided via Zoom by a Daniel Wright staff member, and login credentials will be provided to each student via email.
