The mission of Phillips Neighborhood Clinic is three-fold:
We will increase the accessibility of comprehensive, patient-centered, quality health services to patients with unmet needs
We will develop compassionate, culturally sensitive future health professionals in an interprofessional, team-based learning environment
We will support community partnerships and promote overall health and wellbeing in the communities we serve
The PNC is a student run free clinic for the Phillips Neighborhood of the TC metro area. The clinic aims to foster an interprofessional environment where students can learn and apply clinical skills and provide patient care to an underserved and underrepresented patient population. Students and preceptors from medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical laboratory sciences, nursing, nutrition, mental health, social work, health administration, law, dental and undergraduates come together to staff the clinic and provide patient care on teams.
There is an application and interview process that must be completed prior to joining. To apply, you have to be a UMN student who is up to date on vaccinations and who has completed HIPAA training. Shifts are completed 1-2 times a month.
Clinic is open every Monday and Thursday with shifts starting between 4:45 PM - 5:30 PM. Most nights end around 10:30 PM, but can occasionally run later.
We have student orientation in the fall with all of the new volunteers, mock clinic in the spring to practice patient work-up skills, and community outreach events throughout the year.
