Julie M. Slowiak, Ph.D. is a Full Professor of Psychology at the University of Minnesota Duluth, Executive Director of the Behavior Analysis in Health, Sport, and Fitness SIG, a non-profit organization, and Founder of InJewel LLC, a values-focused coaching and consulting company.
Dr. Slowiak earned a BA. in Psychology and Organizational Communication, M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Ph.D. in Behavior Analysis. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) and a Certified Health Coach (CHC).
Dr. Slowiak's research, teaching, and applied work focus on designing physical and social environments to support individual and organizational health, performance, and wellbeing. Her research blends her training in applied behavior analysis and organizational behavior management with topics studied in the fields of occupational health psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, and applied sports psychology.
Dr. Slowiak's current research interests focus on issues related to worker wellbeing, particularly within human service professions, and specifically as they relate to personal and professional self-care and burnout. In addition, Dr. Slowiak is interested in issues related to psychological safety in sport and how it affects both student-athlete mental health and coach burnout. A newer interest of Dr. Slowiak's focuses on exploring organizational factors that influence wellbeing and sustained employment of those with invisible and episodic chronic health conditions. Finally, Dr. Slowiak is interested in the integration of Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT Training) to health, behavior, and human performance coaching.

Anne Cooke is a current second-year graduate student at UMD in the Industrial-Organizational track of the MAPS program. She earned her BS in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology at Montana State University. Anne’s research interests are within the areas of organizational commitment, employee engagement, and burnout. She is particularly interested in how these factors influence job satisfaction and turnover intention for employees in healthcare and human services professions. Professionally, Anne is currently interested in a career in external/internal consulting or market research.
In her free time, Anne loves to spend time outdoors hiking, skiing, and scouting for loons. She also enjoys traveling, spending time with friends/family, and discovering new restaurants.
Adrian Parenteau is a current second-year graduate student at UMD in the Industrial-Organizational track of the MAPS program. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Applied Statistics from Metropolitan State University. Adrian’s academic interests involve studying the ways in which our environment affects the way we behave, particularly in the workplace. In the MAPS program, he will be studying environmental factors and behavioral indicators that lead to job burnout across differing professions. What drew him to the MAPS program at UMD were the program's strength in student research and the opportunity to gain experience in applied settings.
Outside of class Adrian enjoys playing music, being outdoors, and hanging out with his cats.
Kira Dupont is a current first-year graduate student at UMD in the Industrial-Organizational track of the MAPS program. She earned her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Marketing from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Kira’s research interests include burnout, training and development, human factors in the workplace, and employee health and well-being. Professionally, Kira hopes to pursue a career as an external/internal consultant or training and development specialist. She is also a graduate research assistant with the Memory Keepers Medical Discovery Team affiliated with the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Duluth Campus.
In her free time, Kira enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors, including hiking and playing pickleball. She also loves traveling, trying new foods, and spending time with friends and family.
Maddy Onell is a second year undergraduate student at UMD, majoring in psychology and minoring in cognitive science and sociology. Maddy is the president of the Industrial-Organizational Psychology Club, and is also beginning a teaching assistantship in sociology this semester. After completing her bachelor's degree, Maddy plans to attend graduate school to obtain her master's degree in I/O Psychology.
Maddy has research interests in organizational change and development, as well as leadership/management. In her free time, she enjoys reading, going for walks, spending time with family and friends, and watching hockey.
