Allies

The Allies group consists of students, faculty, staff and alumni who wish to dedicate their time and energy to create an inclusive and equitable culture in the college of Pharmacy. Allies have completed Ally training and agreed to the college's Ally Agreement Form. Allies work to support the Affinity Groups as well as central College of Pharmacy strategic initiatives in Equity and Inclusion.  

The following are examples of allies in the 2022-2023 academic year:

• Discussed with a colleague the importance of identifying microaggressions and sharing these experiences to prevent future occurrences

• Served as an Ally Liaison to an Affinity Group

• Ensured the college participated in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) DEIA summit, and presented findings for action internally

• Enhanced ability to provide individualized support for students of all backgrounds

• Incorporated greater diversity into patient education videos

• Worked to reduce implicit bias via training for continuing pharmacy education

• Participated in multiple DEI training sessions

• Advocated for enhanced digital accessibility for learners

• Participated in DEI training that helped critically examine how to be more inclusive

• Helped form a Muslim Affinity Group

• Continued advocacy of inclusive hiring practices

• Worked with university offices to ensure personal pronouns appear on ID badges

• Supported a peer dealing with discrimination at work and helped create a plan to tackle the issue 

• Revised hiring and recruiting practices to attract diverse candidate pools 

• Being part of the Ally group has helped bring sensitivity and awareness of practicing anti-racism to my work and personal settings
