Our Concepts
Changes, responsibility, environment
Things for you to know about the Year 3 this term:
English focus: We will be focusing on two books over the spring term- 'The Iron Man' and 'Pinocchio' These books link in well with our topic of Marvellous materials. Spring term 1- we will be focusing on instructional writing and spring term 2 we will be looking at diary entry writing.
Math focus: This term we will be focusing on fractions- finding fractions, equivalent fractions and finding fractions of amounts using bar modelling. We will also look at time, first starting on o clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to- moving on to 5 minute intervals and problem solving around time. Our wider Math focus will be on measuring specifically volume and capacity and looking at parallel and perpendicular lines.
Topic: Our topic this term is 'Marvellous materials ' . We are sure that the pupils will love learning about the different types of materials, looking at recycling and how important it is to pur environment and recucing plastic pollutioin in our oceans. Spring 1- we will be specifically looking at materials and carrying out an experiment to discover which material will be the best insulator. Spring 2 we will move on to focus on recycling, look at the effects of not recycling properly and how pollution harms our environment. They will cover a range of AOLE's such as Science and Technology, expressive arts- creating art work from materials, numeracy- graph work, LLC- creating a TV advert.
Welsh: Alongside daily Helper Heddiw questions/phrases and Criw Cymraeg sessions, this term we will looking at the hobbies and practicing for cluster and School Eisteddfod.

Helpwr heddiw takes place in the morning (10 minutes) For 20 minutes everyday (end of the day) , the children will be taking part in Welsh games focusing on a phrase a fortnight.
Health and Well-being: This is at the heart of our work. It is key to ensure all children are happy and safe coming to school and are happy while they are with us. For our weekly PE sessions we are focusing on dance- changing direction and level and practising throwing skills . During our wellbeing sessions we will be looking at 'healthy me' looking at a balanced diet, exercise, sleep and water and the benefits of these.

Useful information
P.E day for pupils of Class 10 is Wednesday.
Please send your child into school WEARING their PE kit in order to minimise bags and other items being brought to school. Correct PE kit must be worn ( A red or navy top with navy bottoms)
Reading books:
There is no set day in which your child needs to change their reading book. As soon as they have finished it, bring it in along with a signed reading record and we can give them a new reading book. Diolch!
Shwmae! I am Mrs James and I am the Class Teacher.
I have been working at Cyfarthfa Park Primary for 12 years and feel incredibly lucky to be a part of such an amazing team of staff, parents and pupils.
I am married with two beautiful daughters Ella Rose and Lottie Grace and my favourite thing to do is spend time with my family. Whether that be day trips out, weekends away or just cwtching up with a film and food. My hobbies include dancing, cooking and baking.
I absolutely LOVE my job and feel blessed to be a part of a child's learning journey.
Miss Isitt is our classroom support for the remainder of the academic year. She has a passion for books and takes care of our in School library. Miss Isitt LOVES dogs!
