Things for you to know about the Year 3 this term:

Every Maths session will begin with a warm up of basic maths skills such as addition, subtraction, sequencing etc... Every Thursday, the children will focus on their reasoning skills and develop these and every Friday they will have a winder Math session. The wider Math focus for Autumn 1 is data handling and Autumn 2 will be area and perimeter.
Topic: Our topic this term is 'Our community ' . We are sure that the pupils will love learning about the history of their local area. We are going to be focusing on sports in our community. The children will look at key sports in history of Merthyr and the success that some sports have had in our local area. They will then compare with sports that are offered today and look at skills needed, healthy body and minds and healthy eating. The children will cover a range of AOLE's from humanities, expressive arts, LLC and STEM.

For 20 minutes everyday, the children will be taking part in Welsh games focusing on a phrase a fortnight.
Health and Well-being: This is at the heart of our work. It is key to ensure all children are happy and safe coming to school and are happy while they are with us. For our weekly PE sessions we are focusing on football and balance. During our wellbeing sessions we will be looking at 'celebrating me' It is based on everyone being unique and celebrating their differences.
