CHS is proud to announce that Mrs. Christy Johnson has been awarded the ACTE Graduate Fellowship Award! Fellowships are provided to graduate students who would become future leaders in the FCS education profession. The candidates are rated on several criteria:

The likelihood of completing a graduate degree.
The likelihood of contributing to family and consumer sciences education at secondary level and/or at the university level in a teacher education program.
Previous academic work
Professional association involvement and leadership
Professional experience including scholarly work (doctoral candidates)
References

Mrs. Johnson is the Family and Consumer Science Educator, ProStart Instructor, Certified Secondary Foodservice Educator, and the local FCCLA Advisor at Clearwater High School. She is very involved in her professional organizations, performing leadership roles, and continues to train and educate others in the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). Mrs. Johnson is currently seeking her Master’s Degree in Education and is a great instructor who motivates and encourages her students to perform their best!

Miss Brinkley’s 11th Grade American Government classes have been working through the election process this election season! To learn about how elections take place, the students have ran election campaigns for class president. Each of Ms. Brinkley's three Am. Government classes have chosen a student to run for president of their class hour. They have selected Vice President running mates, created policies, came up with slogans, made t-shirt designs, hung posters, created commercials, and have gotten endorsements from teachers throughout the school. The candidates were a part of a presidential debate and held their own mini-rally in the final days of their campaigns.

Last Tuesday, Nov. 5th, was election day for both the country and for CHS Government classes! Thank you to our local Wayne County poll workers who kindly donated “I voted” stickers for our election today!
