There are NO changes to the 2025-2026 Physical Fitness Test.
Most of the components of the PFT offer two or three test options so all students, including those with disabilities, have the chance to participate in the PFT. Students with cognitive or physical disabilities are only required to participate in the PFT components they are able to perform. All students with disabilities who are unable to take the entire PFT should be given as much of the test as each student’s physical condition permits, which means they may end up being partially tested. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 plan team is responsible for deciding how students with disabilities will participate in the PFT. Please consult the student's IEP or 504 for their allowed modifications for PE and apply them to the PFT.
Answers to frequently asked questions and information on exemptions are posted on the CDE PFT Physical Education Exemptions web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/pf/pft11fasqa.asp
The Body Composition component and the Body Composition Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ) will not be a part of the PFT for school year 2025-26.
