WCS Planning Room

The WCS Planning Room is a safe space where students and adults can access support with behavior

In the Williston Schools, we believe that behavior is a form of communication; and is a function of a person’s view of themselves, others, and the world. All members of our system thrive when they are able to form positive relationships at school.

In order to build a positive learning environment in which individuals experience growth and belonging, our system will…

-Provide opportunities to learn and practice various ways to act as positive members of our community.

-Support faculty and staff in understanding and responding appropriately to behaviors that cause harm in our community.

-Include the perspectives and voices of students, parents/caregivers, faculty and staff.

-Take into account the diverse identities and backgrounds of students, families, faculty and staff.

-Continue to adapt to meet the changing needs of our learning community.

How Students Use the Planning Room

Students can use the planning room in a variety of ways throughout the school day. Some students use the Planning Room to take breaks during a hectic day, or sit with our staff and collaborate on how to solve problems that are coming up.

Students may access the planning room if they need support or can be asked to use the planning room by any of the adults in the building. This can be an opportunity to take time out and sit for a break, or process with someone about a challenge.

Planning room staff collaborates with school staff and parent/guardians to develop strategies to support the students who are accessing the planning room.
