Welcome to Team Wonder!

This is a very special time for students, and I am excited to work together with your family! I love teaching fourth and fifth grade! This is my fifth year teaching at Shelburne Community School and before that I taught fourth grade in Massachusetts. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and American Studies from St. Michael's College, and am working on my Master's Degree in Literacy also at SMC.

I strive to create an environment where students feel comfortable, safe, eager to learn and respected. I strongly value inclusion, making sure that each student's social, academic, emotional and physical needs are honored so that they can be successful in every sense. I believe in celebrating the uniqueness of each child, so I work hard to get to know each student closely throughout the year. Accordingly, I differentiate instruction so that each child is met where they are at with a balance of teacher-directed and student- driven learning. You will often hear laughter and see smiles on our team :)

Adam and I work together to build a team community where students interact on a regular basis. They regularly discuss issues that are prevalent in their own lives, and in our greater community, such as bullying, homelessness, poverty, disabilities, and then what we can do to make sure that everyone is treated fairly.

In my free time I love being outside with my husband, Xander, and our friends. My favorite things are running, hiking, yoga, reading and eating chocolate. I look forward to a wonderful year together!
