Options for Universal Preschool (Act 166)
The quality early education programs within CVSD provide early childhood experiences that foster social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development through enriching experiences and positive relationships. Vermont’s Universal Pre-K law (Act 166) provides publicly funded Pre-K for children ages 3-5 years old. Children are entitled to quality preschool experiences for 10 hours per week for 35 weeks. Parents may choose to enroll in a preschool program in the school (by lottery) or in a pre-qualified community-based program. Our school-based and community-based programs encourage children to explore new ways of expressing themselves through a balance of quiet, active, large group, small group and individual activities. Through these experiences, children develop positive relationships with others as well as a sense of themselves as competent learners.
