This week in Science class we...
collected data from NASA's earth indicators to use as supporting evidence for an argument that human activity has driven climate change
learned about feedback as a regulatory mechanism and looked at positive and negative examples within earth's climate system
reviewed and practiced ahead of next week's assessment
Next week students will take an evidence and reasoning assessment focused explaining how a solution they have learned about helps to address climate change. The rest of the week we will begin our final unit on evolution.

Summary of Week 30:
Review of Slope-Intercept & Point-SLope Forms
Intro to Standard Form
Next Week
Practice Graphing Standard Form
This week, students reviewed writing and graphing linear equations from graphs in slope-intercept form and point-slope form. Then students were introduced to to the standard form of a linear equation, ax+by=c. Ask them about the hots & hambugers situation!
Next week, students will practice graphing equations in standard form.

Summary of Week 30:
Formative
Factoring Trinomials
The Zero Product Property
Next Week
Practice Factoring
Writing Quadratic Equations from Tables
This week, students took a formative on converting between quadratic forms and solving equations. Then students were introduced to factoring trianomials (standard form to convert it to factored form). Students used the Zero Product Property to solve for the x-intercepts.
Next week, students will practice factoring and begin writing quadratic equations from tables.

This week in PA, students were preparing for their summative for next week. They focused on safety procedures, working with others, and positive risk-taking.
Students participated in a trolley activity in which they worked with their peers to move from one side of the gym to the other.
Students demonstrated skills in communication, patience, and collaboration.
Next week, students will take a summative for safety and risk-taking.

English
It was the final countdown for Unit 5! Students wrapped up their last annotated bibliographies and they started their 6th and final unit of the year! Students will be finishing out the year with one last round of book clubs and the last learning target we'll be working on is "Speaking". We'll work on having real audiences for their book presentations, and we'll have three final assessments on public speaking. I'm looking forward to a great last unit!
Social Studies
This week, students have jumped into their Silk Road projects with energy and curiosity! Each student has chosen a product or idea and is uncovering the story of how it traveled across the Silk Road.
Step 1: Research
Students are exploring how their “cargo” moved through interconnected trade routes, the “global nervous system,” and how it changed, adapted, and influenced the cultures it encountered along the way.
Step 2: Narrative Journey
Now comes the creative twist! Students will step into the shoes of a traveler living between 150 CE and 1300 CE, crafting a first person narrative that brings their journey to life. Their mission is to document the movement of their “invisible cargo” across diverse regions and cultures.
Step 3: Mapping the Route
To tie it all together, students will create a map that visually tracks their cargo’s journey, highlighting key stops, exchanges, and moments of transformation along the Silk Road.
Students should plan to spend about 15 to 20 minutes each night building their projects. We are excited to see these journeys come to life!
Dinner Table Talk
What book did your group choose? Can you tell me about how you went about picking it?
How'd you feel about your final annotated bibliography?
The last time you did the speaking learning target it was at the beginning of the year. How are you feeling about it now?
What is your topic in social studies?
Are you seeing the comaprisons of global trade from a 1000 years ago to today?
How is your research coming along?
