ABOUT MRS. CHRISTIE
Hello! My name is Courtney Christie & I am proud to start my third year at Hinesburg Community School; I will be entering my fourth year as a teacher overall.
I am from Canaan, VT & I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education (K-12) from Plymouth State University. Throughout college & since I was a child, I have primarily played the trumpet & piano.
I now live in Shelburne, VT with my husband & our cat named, Aria. Aside from my passion for music, I enjoy reading, baking sourdough, hiking, & spending time with my family & friends.
I look forward to another GREAT school year!
ABOUT MR. SMITH
My name is Andy Smith, and I’m excited to be teaching instrumental for grades 5–8. I’ve been teaching music since 1993 and love helping students grow as musicians and performers.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from the Crane School of Music and my Master’s in Education from Plymouth State College. Over the years, I’ve guest conducted student festivals, hosted jazz events, and led clinics for music educators across Vermont. I’m also proud to be a two-time Grammy nominee and to have been recognized in Who’s Who of America’s Teachers.
In addition to teaching, I stay active as a performer and have played in fourteen countries and across the U.S.—from B.B. King’s in NYC to the Imatra Jazz Festival in Finland. I also help lead the Vermont Jazz Camp and work with the Vermont Youth Orchestra jazz program.
I live in Ticonderoga, NY with my wife, Carrie, and I’m looking forward to a great year ahead!
