PLP Kickoff: Find the invitation email from spikeview and set up your account.
Challenge #1: Set up your profile, including your profile picture and other sections, and add an inspirational tagline or quote that holds special significance to you.
Returning students: Revise/update your profile, details, or tagline as needed. Please help new students by sharing what these look like. You can also consider adding a story (directions here) or a recommendation (directions here).

Challenge #2: Introduce yourself with a brief summary statement. A summary statement is 3 - 5 sentences summing up your top skills, interests, and goals.

Seniors: You should make sure your portfolio is updated/complete and add it in Scoir (directions here). This, along with your completed "Brag Sheet" form, is required for letters of recommendation!

Bonus: I have created a 30-45 second elevator speech introducing who I am.
Challenge #3: Stories let others know who you are, what and how you learn, your interests, and everything else about you. Stories are opportunities to reflect on your experiences, using them to think about the person you are and would like to become.
Returning students: Although not required, consider choosing experiences throughout the year that fit with already-existing "spikes." If these are important areas in your life, they will likely make more than one appearance in stories!
Materials:
16:9 Photo Frame (bit.ly/PLPpic): The image dimensions for spikeview are 16:9. Upload your photo(s) to this frame, adjust the size to fill the entire space, and then download it as a .jpeg file for use in your portfolio.

Challenge #4 (2 reflections!): RISE stands for Reflective Interest-based Student Experiences. So it makes sense that we ask you to reflect about your experiences. These reflections will constitute your last portfolio entries of the year, so make it count!

Setting goals provides direction and purpose, helping you stay focused and motivated. It allows you to track your progress, build confidence, and develop a sense of accomplishment as you achieve milestones along the way.

Adding recommendations communicates important information about you to admission officers, internship coordinators, scholarship committees, and employers looking for youth with the work ethic and skills to succeed at the next level.

Scoir is the platform the Direction Center uses to help you explore colleges, submit and track applications, and request letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors. You must have an updated, complete PLP linked in Scoir before teachers will write letters of recommendation for you!
