Jobs in need of student support

1. What form should publications take?

  • Scientific papers: APA, MLA, IB’s EE format??

  • Popular science columns: character limit, style guidelines?

  • STEAM projects: accompanying explanation of the design process?

2. How do student’s initiate their work?

  • Do they just do a project according to our published publication standards and submit it, or do they need to get permission and have a sponsor/mentor?

  • Do we advertise, and if so, with who? Is it just a CV thing, or do we go big?

  • Do we need examples before we formally launch?

  • Can some courses link their projects to publication here? IB is an easy fit with the EE, but are other courses compatible?

3. Who will do the approval of student work?

  • Do we need a review board, and if so, who sits on it?

  • Are their deadlines for submitting projects each MP, year, etc?

  • How many times can a student be turned down and get another chance to submit?

  • How do we decide what gets published in each category?

  • Can students from other schools submit their work for publication?

4. Design needs?

  • Is the current form of STEAMconnect as a Google Site suitable? What are the costs/benefits of changing the platform?

  • What skill sets do we need to pull in for the other Board positions: Artist, Designers, Coders, Writers?

  • What design aesthetic do we subscribe to?

  • Do we need images to be created?

5. Is this even legal?

  • Is the name STEAMconnect copy-free?

  • Who owns this stuff?

  • Who can link to STEAMconnect?

  • Should we advertise on this site? If so, who gets the profit?
