Welcome to Middle School Cross Country

Cross country is a fall sport open to boys and girls entering 7th and 8th grade. 

PIAA Sports Physicals Required

To try out for the team in the fall, athletes must have a PIAA Sports Physical completed after May 1, 2026 and before the first day of tryouts.  All physical information must be uploaded to the Rank One system found on the CV Athletic Trainer website.

Summer Running Opportunities

Informal summer runs will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting in July. These runs are open to athletes going into 7th and 8th grade. These sessions are not required, but a chance for athletes to train with coaches and other athletes. Athletes should come prepared in running clothes and shoes and bring their own filled water bottle. If there are thunderstorms, heat advisories or heavy rain, we will NOT meet to run. This will be updated on the website as soon as possible.

Tuesday, July 14, 2026 ~ CANCELED due to heat. 6: 00- 7:30 PM: Meet at Stony Ridge Park, 50 Bernheisel Bridge Rd, Carlisle, 17015. (Coming from Ridge Hill Rd., go past the sign and park at the second gravel entranceway. We will be running on the Appalachian Trail from this lower lot.)

Thursday, July 16, 2026 ~ 8:00 - 9:30 AM: Meet at Mountain View Middle School, 30 Bali Hai Rd., Mechanicsburg, 17050 (Near the track/stadium)

Tuesday, July 21, 2026 ~ CANCELED due to rain/possible storms. 6: 00 - 7:30 PM: Meet at Children's Lake in Boiling Springs (Carlisle Iron Works Furnace), 109 Bucher Hill Road, Boiling Springs, 17007. We will dip our legs in the “bubble” at the end of the run.

We will dip our legs in the “bubble” at the end of the run. (This is a change from our originally scheduled location since our other runs in Boiling Springs were canceled.)

Tuesday, August 18, 2026 ~ 6:00- 7:30 PM: Meet at Army Heritage Center, 950 Soldiers Dr, Carlisle, PA 17013 (parking) to run at Carlisle Barracks Golf Course

Fall Try-Outs

Tryouts for the team will be held on Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Mountain View Middle School.  Athletes need to have PIAA Sports Physicals uploaded before trying out. Athletes need to attend both days.

As part of tryouts, athletes will run a two-mile course. A maximum of 25 girls running 20 minutes or faster and a maximum of 25 boys running 19 minutes or faster will make the team.
