Mrs. Boyer (Ms. Myer) was born in a small town known as Fayetteville in North Carolina. When she was three years old, she moved to New York to be closer to her family and lived in Oswego until she was five years old. She then moved to Pennsylvania and lived in Homer City. She grew up with an older step-sister and a younger brother and sister. She attended Homer Center School District and graduated in 2014. She met her husband while she was in high school. She then decided that she wanted to go to Indiana University of Pennsylvania to study early childhood education/special education. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 2018.
Her younger siblings played a big role in childhood. They helped her find her passion for helping others learn. She learned patience at a very young age when helping her younger brother. Mrs. Boyer also focused on American Sign Langauge throughout high school and college.
She was drawn to Conemaugh Valley by our small atmosphere. Since she came from a small school, she felt that she belonged here and knew she would fit in well. She was thrilled when she was hired because she knew she would finally get to do what she loves and work with kids that she has a soft spot for.
In her free time, Mrs. Boyer enjoys reading. She read all kinds of different genres.
“Reading books lets my imagination soar off the pages and takes me to new places and meet new characters,” said Mrs. Boyer.
When she is not reading, she is most likely out walking around town with her husband. She also loves animals. She has two kittens at home and hopes to get a dog soon to complete her family.
Mr. Jaber, or Santino, as the teachers may call him, has been one of the history teachers here at Conemaugh Valley for close to two years now.
Mr. Jaber was born and raised here in the heart of Johnstown. He received his high school diploma from Westmont Hilltop High School, then he went on to get his undergraduate degree for Secondary Social Studies and Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, then he finished his education at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania to obtain his master's degree as a Reading Specialist.
While away from work and the school, Mr. Jaber enjoys being around his family and friends. One of Mr. Jaber’s big passions is Pittsburgh sports, along with general sports as most of us at CV may know. He also likes golfing and working out in his spare time, which he would consider both as hobbies. Another hobby Mr. Jaber enjoys doing is to travel.
He also wanted to add that he is a very proud uncle of three nieces and two nephews, also that he is the youngest of 5 children, which most of us may not have known.
Caitlin Gutilla, known to all of you as Miss. Gutilla is the newest science teacher here at Conemaugh Valley High School. As a teenager, she received her high school education at Westmont High School and then continued her Education at UPJ, where she became a science teacher. Before teaching at Conemaugh Valley for Earth and Life science classes, she also taught at Ferndale High School.
A very interesting fact about her is that she also enjoys traveling, She traveled all over East Asia, and lived in Suzhou, China in 2017-2018. She can speak fluent Chinese and taught at English First, which is a type of school in China that teaches students how to speak English as a second language. Another interesting fact is that she has a cat named Moxxi who she loves very dearly and holds a special place in her heart.
Miss Gutilla is very eager to be teaching us here at Conemaugh Valley High School and is excited to see how this school year progresses for both her and her students!
