Our Student of the Month for eighth grade is Maddix King. Maddix was nominated by Mr. Chappie because of how much he has grown and matured. Mr. Chappie says that Maddix has transitioned to the high school very well. He appears to have a solid peer group, and his grades overall are solid.
Maddix’s favorite food is chicken. His favorite song is Rap God by Slim Shady, and his favorite color is red. Maddix is focusing on his schoolwork at the moment but plans on playing basketball for the school next year. His favorite teacher is Mr. Beiter, and his favorite television show is Spongebob.
Outside of school, Maddix enjoys riding his BMX bike and playing video games. His future plans are to become a welder. Maddix’s favorite quote is:

Maddix was an all-star of his basketball team. The most influential person in his life is his dad.
Our next student of the month is Morgan Pisczek! Morgan’s school activities include cheerleading, treasurer of the Student Council, National Honors Society, and prom committee. Outside of school, her hobbies consist of being a dancer and spending time with her family and friends.
Morgan’s favorite subjects in school are math and science. Her future plans are to attend college and pursue a degree in the medical field. Her best accomplishments are almost always achieving high honor roll while pushing herself by taking college-level classes. The most influential people in Morgan’s life are her parents because they have shaped her into the person that she is today. Morgan’s advice would be to “Take advantage of high school because you will be done with high school before you know it.”
Her favorite food is chicken and favorite song is “1, 2 Step.” Then her favorite color is grey and her favorite television show is Grey’s Anatomy. To finish off, Morgan’s favorite quote is “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.”
This month’s student of the month is Jake Urban. Jake is a senior and is involved in many school activities such as Student Council President, Secretary of National Honors Society, Remembering Adam, SADD, Ski club, TSA, CVTV, and Track and Field.
Jake's favorite tv show is The Office and outside of school he enjoys traveling, adventuring, eating and spending time with his dogs and other people's animals. He plans to become a pharmacist and specialize in veterinary pharmacology and move to Florida.
His largest accomplishment is becoming the president of Student Council. His advice is to get involved as much as possible, it will help you reach your full potential and create unforgettable memories.
The most Influential person in Jake's life is his Aunt Suzie. She showed him how to always be happy and always see the good in everything.
Freshmen Lauryn Carns was nominated for student of the month by Mrs. Connors. Mrs. Connors says she is a great student who is always on task, responsible for her work and comes in every day with a wonderful attitude.
Lauryn’s school activity is Remembering Adam. Her favorite teacher is Ms.Mash and her favorite class is Honors English. She loves the song Waves, by Dean Lewis and the TV show Riverdale. Her favorite food is tacos and her favorite color is green.
Lauryn is a member of the honor roll. Her hobbies outside of school include football, boating, taking walk most influential person in her life is Lili Reinhart, she says she loves how she always speaks about body positivity and how important it is.
Her favorite quote is “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” Lauryn’s advice to everyone is “ Live your life for you, not others.”
Our next student of the month is Liam Hritz-Crotzer. Liam was nominated by Mrs. Csikos.
Liam’s school activities include chorus and Scholastic Quiz. His hobbies consist of playing video games, going to open mic nights, making art, and singing. Liam’s favorite teachers are Mrs. Csikos, Mrs. Mash, and Mrs. Connors.
AJR’s Burn the House Down is Liam’s favorite song, and his favorite food is chicken alfredo. His favorite color is green, and Adventure Time is his favorite television show.
Tyler Scheid’s “Smile always!” is Liam’s favorite quote. The most influential person in his life is his mother because “she is a wonderful person and always helps me when I’m down”.
Liam’s accomplishment was making the honor roll for the first marking period of this school year. Liam’s word of advice is “You should always put your best into anything you do, and look past any problems you may be having. Always try to be the best person you can be”.
After high school, Liam’s future plans are to attend college to major in video game designing.
Our student of the month is Mason W. Scherer. Mason is in seventh grade and was nominated for student of the month by Mrs. Gutilla. Mason is a very eager and excited student and does what is expected from all students: participates, focuses, and asks questions!
Mason is also involved in school activities such as TSA and remembering Adam. Outside of school, Mason enjoys playing video games and works with model cars, trains, and railroads. He also has a younger sister who goes to Conemaugh Valley Elementary school, her name is Elora and is in 5th grade! Mason is an enormous history buff and he loves trains.
Mason is honored to be chosen student of the month and is excited to have started his 7th-grade year!
Our student of the month for the Freshman class is Saydie George. She was nominated by Mrs. Gutilla. Mrs. Gutilla said that Saydie is an amazing student. She is always polite and kind to all of her classmates. Saydie does not complain. She simply puts her mind to the task at hand to get it done. She participates and is not afraid to ask questions in class in order to better herself. She is also an excellent helper. Mrs. Gutilla can rely on her to help other students in the class if they are having trouble understanding directions.
Her favorite food is pizza, and her favorite color is blue. Saydie is involved in Remembering Adam and yearbook. Mr. Jaber is Saydie’s favorite teacher. Her favorite television show is Gossip Girl.
Outside of school, Saydie is involved in karate. Her future plans are to become a dental hygenist. Saydie’s favorite quote is:

Saydie receives all A’s and B’s on her report cards, which puts her on the Honor Roll, and says that it is important to take school seriously. The most influential people in her life are her mother and other family members.
Our fifth student of the month is Mikayla Burke!
Mikayla's school activities include Varsity Softball, Varsity Volleyball, Student Council, SADD. Remembering Adam, 2019 Homecoming Court, TSA, and Junior achievement. Her favorite class is chemistry.
Mikayla's favorite food is tacos and her favorite song is Best I Ever Had by Drake. Her favorite color is mint green. Mikayla's favorite TV show is Grey's Anatomy. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Her favorite quote is “keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground” by Theodore Roosevelt. The most influential person in Mikayla’s life is her father who she says has taught her how to be a better person and how to see the good in everyone. “He is the strongest person I know,” states Mikayla.
Her future plans are to attend Saint Francis University and major in Occupational Therapy. Mikayla's advice to you is “do not wish your high school career away. Enjoy every moment of it because it is time you will never get back.”
The student of the month is freshmen Kathy Goas. Kathy was nominated by Mrs. Csikos. Mrs. Csikos nominated her because she is always prepared for class and participates.
Kathy is involved with the Marching band, Drama Company, and the Diversity Club. Her favorite class is English, and her future plans are to attend Iowa State University. Kathy’s favorite food is chicken nuggets. Her favorite color is green. Her favorite song is “Angel” by Finneas, and her favorite show is Big Mouth. Outside of school, she enjoys sleeping.
Kathy’s advice to everyone is “Live your high school life to the fullest”. Kathy’s favorite quote is, “When it rains it pours”.

Our fourth Student of the Month is Logan Casteel! Logan was nominated by Mrs. Csikos because he is always on task and completes his best work. Logan is also very polite to his peers and participates in class, along with contributing to class discussions and group work.
Logan’s school activities include ski club. He also has hobbies that consist of hunting, fishing, archery, and football. His favorite teacher is Mr. Sherwood, and his favorite class is gym.
Logan’s favorite song is Ransom by Lil Tecca. His favorite food is Chinese, favorite color is red, and favorite television show is the One Hundred.
Logan’s favorite quote is “Let arrows fly.” The most influential person in his life is his father. Logan’s memorable moments are when he killed his first deer at the age of 6 and gifted a bow and arrow for his 13th birthday.
After high school, Logan’s future plans are to become a marine biologist or a realtor.
Our Student of the Month for October is Destiny Davis. Destiny was nominated for student of the month by Mrs. Csikos. She is a sophomore, and her favorite food is hot wings. Her favorite song is Come a Little Closer by Cage The Elephant. Her favorite colors are baby blue and light grey. Destiny is on our Scholastic quiz team. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Jaber, and her favorite class is American History II. Her favorite television show is That ‘70s Show. Destiny loves to draw and paint. Her future plans are to go to an art school and become a graphic designer or an elementary school art teacher.
Destiny’s favorite quote is “The most important thing is to enjoy your life-to be happy is all that matters,” from Audrey Hepburn. The most influential person in her life is her grandmother. Her grandmother has always supported and encouraged her to do what makes her happy. Destiny’s advice to everyone is:
“Have fun and make the most of every day because you will not be able to get this time back.”
Our 2nd Student of the Month is Molly Hamula! Molly was nominated by Mrs. Williams for her endless creativity and attention to detail with the newly started CVTV!
Molly is our 2019 Homecoming Queen! Mollyś school activities include Varsity Volleyball, Track and Field, Remembering Adam, Ski Club, CVTV, Secretary of Student Council, President of National Honors Society, SADD, and French Club.
Her hobbies include videography and watching American Horror Story. Her favorite song is Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. Molly’s favorite color is pink and her favorite food is fettuccine alfredo. Her favorite teacher is Mrs.Williams, who teachers her favorite class, public speaking.
Molly’s favorite quote is “Ob-La-DI, Ob-La-Da”. The most influential people in her life are Maria Clarke, Arianna Grande, Miss Shever, her mother Michelle and father Walter. Molly’s advice to all the underclassmen is to “get involved, reach out, lend a hand, join the fun, or you will regret it. In return, you will endure some of life’s greatest memories.”
After High School, Molly plans to attend Saint Francis University to major in political science with the hopes of someday becoming a lawyer.
Sam is our first student of the month for 2019! Sam was nominated by his band adviser, Mr. Bixel.
Sam is a member of the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jay Marching band where he plays the trumpet. Sam has emerged a leader and has participated in band for his entire high school career (even when he was on crutches, too)! Sam earned himself a solo in their half-time show. Sam also played Taps during the special pre-game ceremony honoring the anniversary of 9/11. On Saturday, September 21st, he played Taps as part of the Veteran's ceremony at the Cambria County Arts and Heritage Festival at Duman Lake Park.
Sam's other activities include golf , varsity baseball, and Remembering Adam. Sam's favorite activities are playing golf, hunting, and fishing. His favorite food is sushi. His favorite TV'shows are Rick and Morty and Family Guy.
Sam said he likes all of his classes this year and likes all of his teachers as well. His mom and his dad are the most influential people in his life. His advice for underclassmen is to get involved in as much as you can.
He is still undecided on his future plans at the moment.
