With an eye on scaling quality in online education, CVC initiated this new framework in 2021 after online education became part of every CCC student, faculty and staff member's lives. This framework is provided to engage colleges in meaningful discussions, strategic planning, and allocation of resources to ensure students who learn online are fully supported and experience online classes that are intentionally designed and taught by equity-minded online instructors.
In Fall 2021, the CVC comprised an online instruction workgroup of faculty and staff in distance education leadership roles from colleges across the system to provide guidance and input on the new framework. In Spring 2022, the CVC held "learning sessions" with members of the workgroup to collect feedback about the framework and make improvements.
