During the school closure, all agendas, videos, assignments, and homework will be posted on Google Classroom. Parents--sign up to get updates about what your student's progress in Google Classroom. Work with your student to log in to Google Classroom (from the student's CV gmail account) and click the button "Invite Guardians". It will ask you for your email, and how often you would like updates.

Hello and welcome to 2019-2020!

I will be utilizing Google Classroom this year as a place to post homework assignments, and the Table of Contents (a list of assignments in your notebook) for each unit. Students will learn how to log on to Google Classroom during the first week of school. Make sure you know how to use it!

Unfortunately, parents and guardians do not have access to assignments on Google Classroom at this time. Parents and guardians--please check Aeries for grades and missing assignments.

Playing Quizlet Live in Class -

Quizlet is an online learning platform that we will use this year to practice vocabulary terms and concepts. Sometimes we will play Quizlet Live as a class, which places students on teams to challenge each other. It's very engaging and fun to watch them learn!

About Ms. Stickel :

Hello Condors! I am excited to be starting my 7th year at Canyon Middle School. I began teaching in 2008, and have taught in Richmond, El Cerrito and Berkeley. I've previously taught grades 5, 6, 7, and 8, and hold single subject credentials in both History and English Language Arts. I earned my undergraduate degree in History from UCLA, and continued my education in the teaching credential program at Cal State East Bay. I also hold a Master's Degree in Teaching Leadership from Saint Mary's College.

Outside of school I enjoy running, riding my bike, hiking, camping, and traveling. Yosemite National Park is one of my favorite places to go, and this past summer I completed a 220 mile backpacking trip on the John Muir Trail.
