Students can earn elective credits through our External Learning Program. This program encourages students to engage in meaningful activities outside of class instruction that promote personal growth and learning. All activities must be supervised by a responsible adult.
Examples of Eligible Extracurricular Activities
Caretaking: Babysitting or caring for siblings or other individuals.
Home Life Skills: Completing household responsibilities such as chores, meal preparation, or other tasks that build independence.
Community Classes: Enrolling in fun, enrichment, or skill-building classes offered in the community for personal growth.
Sports & Extracurricular Programs: Participating in organized sports, maintaining a personal exercise or fitness routine, joining clubs, or engaging in structured extracurricular activities.
Volunteer Work: Volunteering with community organizations. (Students may count volunteer work through church activities, but worship time cannot be counted as hours.)
Work Experience: Engaging in paid work that is not officially on business payroll. Credit is earned at the rate of 36 hours = 1 elective credit.
Specialized Learning/Internships: Developing skills through internships or other structured learning opportunities (e.g., assisting in a family or friend’s business, attending college or career workshops, or active participation in a community organization).
