Welcome to my landing page for my A.P. Chemistry (2nd year course) and Advanced Chemistry (1st year course) classes. 

My name is Kathleen Veety Martin. A mouthful, right!? I go by Kati and you can call me Ms. Veety. I live in Castro Valley with my 3 kids, Abigail, and twins, Jack and Nate, and my husband, Scott. We also have 2 dogs named Ginger and Nellie. 

This is my 9th year teaching at CVHS and my 20th year teaching. I started my career in Maryland outside of Washington D.C. About 11 years ago, we moved to California for my husband's job. 

I am originally from Pennsylvania and went to college at Susquehanna University and graduate school at Penn State. Between college and grad school, I spent a year in Germany through the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals.  

This summer I traveled to Iceland, Florida for a family wedding at Walt Disney World, and Pennsylvania to visit family. Iceland was a bucket list trip for me! My inner science nerd wanted to see where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. I snorkeled in the Silfra Rift Valley created by the divergent tectonic plates in Thingvellier National Park.

I can't wait to get to know you this year!!
