6th Ancient Civilizations 

Class Overview

The 6th grade year is a survey course of ancient world history and geography. Students will study the development of world civilizations primarily in the Eastern Hemisphere from the years roughly 12000 BCE to 400 CE. The study of these ancient civilizations will be through the universal themes of geography, religion, achievements, politics, economics, and society; easily identified through the acronym G.R.A.P.E.S. Throughout the year students will also learn skills and concepts to help them become thoughtful historians. The civilizations/regions of study covered in 6th grade are Early Humans and Sumerians, Ancient Egypt and the Middle East, Ancient India, Ancient China, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome.
