All About Ms. Kim

My name is Ms. Sarah Kim and I am super excited to be your child’s teacher this year. This is my second year teaching at Castro Valley Elementary School. I was previously at Mariners Christian School in Costa Mesa from 2019-2021.

I live in Castro Valley and actually grew up in CVUSD. I attended Independent Elementary, Canyon Middle School, and CVHS. It's a delight to be back with the same district that raised me to be who I am today.

I love traveling, trying new foods, and spending time with my family and friends. My favorite animal is a dog. My favorite holiday is Christmas. (I love Peppermint Mochas!) I love being active, such as volleyball, rock climbing, and more!

Kindergarten is my favorite grade to teach. I love seeing the wonder and joy in my students' faces when they are learning. My passion is teaching English Learners because I was one myself growing up. I spoke Korean fluently, but lost my fluency around early Elementary school. My goal with bilingual students is to keep them that way: bilingual!

My philosophy on education includes student-centered instruction and engaging and building relationships through social-emotional learning. I believe children meet high expectations and learn best through collaboration and challenging activities. Good communication between parents and teachers is very important. Please feel free to contact me anytime.

I am thrilled to be a CVE Bear. It is a wonderful school and CVE is the place to be! Here’s to an amazing year of growth and learning. Together we can ensure your child has a terrific school year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Kim
