Hi everyone! My name is Mandy Zhang, and I’m excited to be a social work intern at the Canyon Middle School Wellness Center this year. I’m currently working on my Master of Social Work at CSU East Bay, and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, with a dual Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Public Health. I was born and raised in the East Bay, so I am very grateful for the opportunity to work in my local community. I am fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, and I love being able to connect with students and families in the language they’re most comfortable in. Middle school is such a big, sometimes overwhelming chapter, and I’m looking forward to being a steady, supportive presence for students this year. Outside of school, you can find me at the gym, exploring new restaurants and bookstores, or planning my next trip with friends!

Hi! My name is Lucy Yetman-Michaelson, and I’m thrilled to be a social work intern at Canyon this year! I’m a first-year Masters of Social Welfare student at the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining the Canyon community, I was a special education teacher in Brooklyn, NY for 2 years and have a background in educational research and child & adolescent mental health studies. When I’m not in class or at the Canyon Wellness Center, you can usually find me on a nature walk, exploring a book or record store, or cooking up a storm for my friends and family. I’m so excited to get to know the students and families at Canyon and look forward to providing support and resources to the middle-schoolers as they navigate this unique time in their educational journeys and lives.
