In class, we will do some fun Mystery Science experiments.
Mystery Science is a K-5 NGSS Aligned Curriculum
We learn how scientists know so much: they start by observing and asking questions! Students carefully observed an everyday object to spark their curiosity, then practiced asking questions like a scientist.
You can encourage your child’s curiosity at home! The next time your child notices something interesting, ask them to come up with more questions about it. Static on washed clothes, dull old pennies, or a weed growing in the park – even the simplest observations can lead to profound scientific questions!

Grade 2 Mystery Science & NGSS Alignment - Physical Sciences (PS) Profound Perspective:
This unit develops the idea that by taking advantage of the properties of materials, we can solve many problems in our lives. Students will develop an appreciation for the manmade materials of everyday objects, and learn to recognize that those materials are chosen based on their properties. Through hands-on investigation, students will explore the material properties involved in meeting basic needs (such as clothing and cooking). They’ll consider the solid and liquid states of matter to understand why plastic was invented. The unit ends with a brainstorming activity about futuristic inventions that might be possible using new materials.
