Current Initiatives
PBIS
We are currently implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This practice is a "multi-tiered approach to social, emotional and behavior support. The broad purpose of PBIS is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of schools and other agencies. PBIS improves social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities and students from underrepresented groups." For more information, visit the PBIS website.
ICLE
GSHS, along with all schools in Calaveras Unified, are engaging in professional development provided by the International Center for Leadership in Education. The focus has been on the the Rigor/Relevance Framework. This framework is a tool developed by the International Center to examine curriculum, instruction, and assessment along the two dimensions of higher standards and student achievement. It can be used in the development of both instruction and assessment. In addition, teachers can use it to monitor their own progress in adding rigor and relevance to their instruction.
