Kevin > (the student) liked to wear a green jacket with a red scarf, and he once did a dance similar to the cactuar's movements, so I nicknamed him "Cactus Man." I am pleased to state that the nickname followed Kevin to high school and graced the back of his Lynbrook school spirit shirt.
< This is Kevin the Cactuar. He usually lives in front of the whiteboard in the corner with the Exit door. His namesake is a former student, who also happens to be the one who gave him to me and started the tradition of leaving behind a namesake.
This is Aurelia. Her namesake is also a former student who I used to call "Miss Jellyfish" because aurelia is a type of jellyfish. After meeting Kevin the Cactuar, Aurelia asked if she could leave behind a namesake, and so the lovely jellyfish Aurelia now hangs proudly in the corner near the flags.
This is Moosa, also named after a former student. He was given to me by a different student, not Moosa himself, who said that he had a moose head at home and asked if I would name him Moosa and display him if he gave it to me. Moosa (the head) guards the corner with the main entry door.
This is Salazar. Yes, he's a snake. Yes, he's named after THE Salazar, because what else do you name a snake that is green? He lives on the bookcases by the sink. I adopted him from a teacher who won him in a magazine drive but eventually decided to find him a new home.
Other room 22 residents:
This is Ceira, room 22's newest resident. Yes, she's a banana duck. Her dapper fashion (cool glasses and classy necktie) reflects Ceira's own style.
This is Boxer. He was gifted to me by a student who paid attention to what I'd named the pigs (see below) and specifically requested that I name him "Boxer." He usually lives on the corner of my desk.
These are Snowball and Napoleon, the pigs referenced above. They came to room 22 via magazine drives and live by the pencil sharpener.
These are Amanda and Kayleigh. They were gifted to me by two students after they graduated, and they are also the namesakes for the bunnies. They (the bunnies, not the students!) live on the yellow board behind my desk.
These are Sol-leks and Buck. Buck was given to me, but Sol-leks was left behind and never claimed. They live next to my desk.
This is Tarepanda. He is the only resident I actually got myself, and he lives on the shelving unit next to my desk.
This is The Monster Dictionary, better known as just The Monster. He was given a makeover to reflect his name. I adopted him years and years ago from Miss Lu who found him living in her math classroom for some reason.
