This page should be information about ONE famous earthquake in history (excluding the San Francisco, 1906 Earthquake).
FIRST STEP: TITLE YOUR PAGE with the location and date of the earthquake (see header above).
SECOND STEP: GIVE US THE FOLLOWING DETAILS ABOUT YOUR EARTHQUAKE (see below)
Location and Date
Epicenter/Focus
Fault (which fault and which type of fault)
Magnitude/Richter Scale Rating (if applicable)
Mercalli/Devastation Rating (if applicable)
Details about the event (during and after the earthquake)
Photos or imagery related to this event (maps, pictures, drawings)
This page should NOT be a list of the information from above. Rather, you need to choose one of the following ways to convey the information IN YOUR OWN WORDS (or see me for a different format):
GOOGLE SLIDE STORY - Make a Google Slide story about your earthquake. This should not just be listing information, but have a character lead a tour around the area of the earthquake. Each slide should go to the next slide. DO include all of the above info.
INTERACTIVE MAP - Make an interactive map showing the key locations related to your earthquake (epicenter, building locations that were impacted, locations of important details). Be sure and include all of the details listed above as you recount the tragic event. To see how to make an interactive map, check out the info in the lower sections of this page.
VIDEO - Make a video of you narrating the information while showing photos and images. This isn't a video of YOU, but, rather, a video of photos, maps, charts, and drawings that display while you narrate the details. Then embed your video onto this page.
PIXTON COMIC - Make a comic strip that covers the information listed above. Perhaps your character experiences the earthquake and reports on it or walks around giving us a tour with the info.
WRITE a description and include an image relating to each location. If a date applies, include the date.
Directions:
1. First explore this site to get an idea of an interactive maps.
2. Create your map here: Google MyMaps
3. Watch this tutorial on how to make a map
4. When you are done creating your map, you can upload it to your webpage (make sure it's interactive). If that doesn't work for you, then include the link to your map. Make sure you also do the following:
Go to your Google Drive, and find the map you created. Click on once on your map, and then click the "share" icon. Make sure your map has the privacy settings that anyone at CUSD with the link can view.
Then include a screenshot image of your map with at least one location opened up.
Here's an example:
