Association of Northern California Chinese Schools (ANCCS) has a long tradition of holding an annual contest in late March or early April. This contest only accepts contestants representing a school or an organization. We would like to recommend top winners from our Miller Chinese Language & Art Contest to take part in the ANCCS contest. Selected students who choose to participate in the ANCCS contest will have to pay the registration fee ($45*) and are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the contest location. The Chinese Language Teachers Association of California (CLTAC) is another organization that hosts an annual contest in April. This year, the Contest will be held at Menlo School in Atherton. Unlike ANCCS which has 16 contest categories, CLTAC offers speech contests only. There are various contest divisions, from elementary school all the way to college level. This contest takes into account contestants' language backgrounds (e.g., Mandarin only, some Chinese dialect, no Mandarin, immersion education, etc.) as well as how long a contestant has been learning the language. This organization accepts contestants from their teacher members. If you are interested in this contest, contact your Chinese Language teacher. Here is a link to the CLTAC contest.
