Agent for Change Zine
Central Focus:
Students will learn that art can be used to express their own beliefs, values, or behaviors as well as inspire change in individuality or society. Additionally, students will develop their own skills through an exploration of media and be able to describe their art through a formal statement.
"I can" Statements:
I can brainstorm what my agent of change topic and all my pages of my zine.
I can construct my own zine book.
I can design my zine by exploring and mixing at least seven different mediums together.
I can create a zine by mixing media and expressing an agent for change theme with a specific statement relating to myself or society.
I can write a statement about my zine.
Standards:
Cr 2.1.5- Experiment and develop skills in multiple art-making techniques and approaches through practice.
Cr 2.2.5- Demonstrate quality craftsmanship through care for and use of materials, tools, and equipment.
Cr 3.1.5- Create artist statements using art vocabulary to describe personal choices in art-making.
Cn 11.1.5- Identify how art is used to inform and change beliefs, values, or behaviors of an individual or society.
Vocabulary
Medium: The material that is used to make a work of art
Mixed Media: use more than one medium to create your artwork
Zine: a small and original self-published collection of text and images
Agent for Change: someone who sees a problem in their community, large or small, and does something to take action for substantial change
Statement: A definite or clear expression of something
Materials:
With Paper: At least seven different mediums. Look at the Medium presentation below to see your options. Remember, these are ideas of what media you can use, but use what you have.
Digitally: Use Google Slides. Keep in mind, that on Google Slides you must use the shape tool, images from Google, Google Draw, and text. Additionally, I expect you to still have all the same components as the paper version.
