Mixed Media Comics
Central Focus:
Students will learn that art can be used to address their strengths and notice the difference they can make just by being themselves. Additionally, students will develop their own skills through exploration of media and be able to describe their art through a formal statement.

I can brainstorm what my superpower is and create a story to tell in my comic.
I can construct my own comic book.
I can design my comic by exploring and mixing at least seven different mediums together.
I can create a comic by mixing media and my superpower by designing a comic book with a specific statement relating to myself or society.
I can write a statement about my comic book.
Standards:
Cr 1.2.4- Collaboratively set goals and create artwork that is meaningful and has purpose to the makers.
Cr 2.1.4- Explore and invent art-making techniques and approaches.
Cn 10.1.4- Create works of art that reflect community cultural tradition.
Cr 3.1.5- Create artist statements using art vocabulary to describe personal choices in art-making.
Vocabulary
Medium: The material that is used to make a work of art
Mixed Media: use more than one medium to create your artwork
Comic: a small and original self-published collection of text and images
Superpower:
Statement: A definite or clear expression of something
Materials:
With Paper: At least seven different mediums. Look at the Medium presentation below to see your options. Remember, these are ideas of what media you can use, but use what you have.
Digitally: Use Google Slides. Keep in mind, that on Google Slides you must use the shape tool, images from Google, Google Draw, and text. Additionally, I expect you to still have all the same components as the paper version.
