The Westmont Operation Snow Program was established in the summer of 2004 for the 2004-05 school year.
Snowball is just one part of the Westmont Operation Snow program in Westmont Community School District 201. Each year, the Westmont Operation Snow programs hosts a total of four retreats — one Snowflurry, one Snowflake, and two Snowballs — at three different levels (elementary, junior high and high school) for the students of Community Unit School District 201.
Each Snow weekend is a unique experience. Each Snow weekend will create memories that will last a lifetime for every participant — be it a student participant, teen staff member, an alumni returning to visit during retreat, or adult staff member. In recent years, several of our Snowball teen alumni have gone on to join our adult staff to continue giving back to the program.

At the high school level, we host Operation Snowball twice a year at Camp Henry Horner (operated by Camp Nageela Midwest) in Ingleside, Illinois for current freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors attending Westmont High School. The Fall retreat takes place in mid-November (about two weeks before the Thanksgiving holiday). The Spring retreat occurs in early to mid-March (about two to three weeks before spring break depending on how the calendar falls). Attendees participate in various activities throughout the weekend, including small groups, large groups, and workshops spread over three days and two nights. Since the establishment of our program, we have held 25 Snowball weekend retreats.
The Fall 2019 retreat was held on November 15-17, 2019.
The Spring 2020 retreat was postponed and then canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic also forced the cancellation of the Fall 2020, Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 retreats.
Dates for potential 2021-22 school year Snowball weekend retreat will be announced in due course.
