CAPAOW! is a place of unity, belonging, and education that allows us to build cultural experiences and connections that reach far beyond the classroom. To me, CAPAOW! isn’t just an extracurricular activity, but rather a community of my peers that allows my school to welcome diverse experiences and meaningful representation of AAPI heritage. In the face of conflicts and complexity in the world, I'm beyond proud that CAPAOW! leads the way as a safe space for everybody to embrace who they are as a person and connect us all through embracing the beauty of various cultures.
--Hailey Butusov, 2023-24 CAPAOW! Co President
CAPAOW! offers an opportunity for social interactions and unity for Asian and Pacific Islander students and friends while giving an opportunity to grow in awareness of Asian American history and culture.
We have co hosted (with NHS) a talk on AAPI Representation in Mass Media, did paper cuttings for Lunar New Year, and have taken a field trip to H Mart in Naperville. We plan to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month in May. More plans are in the works!
