Hello! My name is Kiley Scogin, and I have had the privilege of serving as the Head Coach of the Clinton High School Color Guard since April 2024. Before stepping into this role, I spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach beginning in 2022, helping support and develop the program that played such an important role in my own life.

I am a proud graduate of Clinton Community High School's Class of 2019. During my time at CHS, I was a four-year member of the Color Guard (formerly known as Flag Corps) and had the honor of serving as Guard Captain during my senior year. Following my sophomore fall season, I also had the opportunity to spend nine months performing with a competitive Winter Guard program at another school. That experience exposed me to a different side of the activity and allowed me to expand my skills as a performer while gaining valuable insight into the Winter Guard environment. The knowledge and perspective I gained during that time continue to influence my approach as an instructor today. Those experiences helped shape my passion for leadership, performance, and mentorship, and ultimately inspired me to return to the program as a coach. 

When I was offered the position of Head Coach, I found myself reflecting on my own years as a performer. I thought about the countless hours spent on the practice field, Friday night football games, the friendships that felt like family, and the lessons I learned through Color Guard. Some of my favorite high school memories were made within this program, and I quickly realized just how much those experiences had influenced the person and coach I would become.

As I reflected on that journey, I thought often about the coach who helped shape me during my time as a performer. She taught me far more than equipment work and choreography. Through her leadership, I learned the importance of hard work, accountability, perseverance, and creating an environment where every student feels valued. Looking back, many of the qualities I strive to embody as a coach today were first modeled by her. The lessons she taught me as a performer became the foundation of my own coaching philosophy, and her influence can still be seen in the way I lead, teach, and support my students today. Having the opportunity to learn from such an incredible mentor played a significant role in shaping the coach I am today.

One of my proudest accomplishments has been founding the Clinton High School Winter Guard program. Creating additional opportunities for students to perform, grow, and challenge themselves has always been a goal of mine, and I am excited to continue building and expanding the program for future generations of performers.

I am trained in and able to perform with a variety of equipment, including flag, rifle, Airblade, and Arc 1 rifle. While teaching technical skills is important, I believe Color Guard offers so much more than performance opportunities. My goal is to help students build confidence, develop leadership skills, learn accountability, and create memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

One of my core beliefs as an instructor is that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their experience level. Nobody starts out perfect, and growth comes from a willingness to learn, work hard, and embrace challenges. My goal is for every student to leave the program more confident, capable, and resilient than when they first joined.

I am also committed to continuing my own growth as an educator and instructor. Through collaboration, ongoing learning, and involvement within the Color Guard community, I constantly seek new ways to improve the experience I provide for my students and to ensure our program continues moving forward.

Outside of Color Guard, I live in Clinton with my husband, Ashton, and our son, Dean. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to the program that gave me so much. Being able to return and help provide the same sense of belonging, growth, and opportunity that I experienced as a student is one of the most rewarding parts of my role. I look forward to helping each member discover their potential both in and out of the performance space and creating an experience they will carry with them long after their time in Color Guard comes to an end.

Hi, I'm Leanna Anderson, though most of our performers know me as Coach Lea!

I am a proud graduate of Clinton Community High School's Class of 2016 and was a four-year member of the Clinton Color Guard (formerly known as Flag Corps). My time as a performer helped shape my passion for the activity and gave me a deep appreciation for the dedication, teamwork, and personal growth that Color Guard provides.

I currently serve as a Volunteer Assistant Coach and have been working with the program since the summer of 2025. Since joining the staff, I have also been proud to help build and grow our Winter Guard program, and I look forward to continuing that work as the program expands and creates new opportunities for our performers.

As a coach, I specialize in flag technique and enjoy helping performers build confidence in both their skills and themselves. My favorite part of coaching is seeing a performer's face light up when they successfully learn a new skill or achieve something they have been working hard toward. Those moments of growth, excitement, and accomplishment are what make coaching so rewarding and remind me why I love being involved in this activity.

Outside of Color Guard, I work as a paraprofessional for CUSD 15. The skills I use in my professional career: patience, communication, adaptability, and supporting individual learning styles, carry over directly into my coaching philosophy. I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment where every performer feels supported, challenged, and valued.

My goal as a coach is to continue growing and improving alongside our performers while helping each student develop not only as a Color Guard member, but also as a leader, teammate, and individual. I believe that success comes from hard work, consistency, and a willingness to learn, and I am committed to helping every member reach their full potential.

When I'm not at school or rehearsal, I enjoy spending time with my partner, Red, and Velma and Luna, our dogs, and Rufus, our axolotl.

I am excited to be a part of the Clinton Color Guard staff and look forward to helping our performers continue building a strong, successful, and supportive program for years to come.
