News for April 29th - May 3rd

Thursday, May 2nd - Jamboree at the High School

We are in the final stretch of the year!  We have some fun days coming up and still plenty of time for learning and growth!

Reading/ELA -   The kids seem to like the Greek mythology unit so far!  We will have our final STAR reading test next week and I'm so excited to see their growth!

In spelling we will work on words /k/ and qu.

Math - We will be multiplying a whole number times a fraction or mixed number.  We will also have our final STAR math test.  I know they are going to do amazing!

Science - We are learning about waves.  There are a couple of fun sound waves experiments coming up.

Social Studies - Students will learn about the 3 branches of government.

Student Teacher - Miss Oschwald finished her student teaching.  She enjoying working with all of the kids this semester!

Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle each day.  Many students also enjoy a snack since we don't have lunch until 12:00.  I have some pretzels on hand for hungry kiddos and I'd be happy to accept donations of pretzels if you'd like to send some in anytime

Kahok Kid of the Month - I'm excited to celebrate a student each month for following the Kahok Way by being respectful, responsible, and safe.  Each month I will place all names of students who showed the Kahok Way into a drawing and randomly draw out one person.  Once a student has been chosen, they cannot be chosen again for the year.  The only downside is that I have so many deserving kids this year and not enough months!

Student of the Week - All students will get the chance to be student of the week.  When I randomly choose a person, the rest of the class writes them a kind compliment on a note card.  Our Star also gets to lead the line for a week!
