This week in:
Reading—We will read a couple of nonfiction selections this week and learn about text structure. We are practicing going back in to the text to find details. Please encourage reading at home! Fourth graders are not too old to listen to you read a book or read together at times!
Writing—This week we will talk about the structure of an information essay. We will begin researching our topic.
Math—We have been working at rounding numbers as well as adding and subtracting large numbers. Students should be spending 10 minutes a night practicing the basic multiplication facts through 10. Has your child mentioned Zearn? Log in and check out some of the math we have been doing in class!
Science/Social Science—The students have been researching volcanoes and exploring other changes such as earthquakes. We have more engaging and informative experiments coming next week!
Grandparents Day—Please let me know if someone will be attending if you have not already done so. Grandparents or another special guest may come from 11:00-11:25 on Friday, September 21. Please make sure they are on the list in the office if they will be taking your child home. This is a half day attendance and school is dismissed at 11:25.
